J.J. McCarthy Celebrates First Start with Emotional Speech After Giants' Overtime Win
J.J. McCarthy celebrated his first start as a quarterback for the Giants with an emotional locker room speech after a 27-21 overtime victory against the Texans in Houston.
In the game, McCarthy completed 20 of 28 passes for 252 yards, while the Giants' running backs scored all the touchdowns. Cam Skattebo, Tyrone Tracy Jr., and Devin Singletary each contributed a touchdown, with Jameis Winston also scoring on a quarterback sneak.
McCarthy, who joined the Giants in September following an injury to Jaxson Dart, was named the starter after a Week 6 loss to the Saints. He previously set a franchise record for passing yards in a fourth quarter. The Giants will have a bye week before facing the Eagles on November 8.
