J.J. McCarthy Faces Depth Chart Uncertainty with Vikings
Vikings quarterback J.J. McCarthy's status on the team's depth chart has become uncertain following his recent performance. Initially considered for the No. 1 or No. 2 spot, McCarthy may now be at risk of falling to No. 3.
In his first game since losing the starting role to Kyler Murray, McCarthy played 17 snaps, completing four of seven passes for 34 yards, but failed to score any points. His drives resulted in two three-and-outs and a third that ended with a sack.
In contrast, Carson Wentz had a strong showing with 30 snaps, completing nine of 14 passes for 81 yards and a touchdown. Wentz's performance has raised his profile as a reliable backup, especially after stepping in when McCarthy was injured earlier in the season. The Vikings are also contemplating a potential trade for McCarthy, although no interested parties have emerged following his recent outing.
