J.J. Spaun Withdraws from Tour Championship Due to Shoulder Injury

J.J. Spaun withdrew from the first round of the TOUR Championship at East Lake Golf Club due to a shoulder injury. After five holes, where he recorded two bogeys and a double bogey, Spaun left the course in a golf cart.

The injury flared up after he hit his tee shot on the par-5 sixth hole. Spaun had experienced some pain in his shoulder earlier in the week, which worsened during practice. He was ranked No. 22 in the FedExCup standings prior to the event.

Spaun's withdrawal not only ended his chance to recover from a recent disappointing finish at the BMW Championship but also raised concerns about his potential selection for the Presidents Cup, where he was a candidate for a captain's pick.
