J.J. Spaun withdrew from the Tour Championship on Thursday after completing just five holes, where he finished four-over par. He entered the event at East Lake ranked 22nd in the FedEx Cup points list.

The 36-year-old golfer from Los Angeles experienced sharp pain in his right shoulder blade, which he had been dealing with since Tuesday. Despite efforts to manage the discomfort, he found it increasingly difficult to swing effectively, prompting his decision to withdraw.

Spaun expressed disappointment over ending his season prematurely but emphasized the importance of prioritizing his health. He noted that he would take a break from golf to recover before assessing his condition further.
