Joc Pederson to Play Through Hand Fracture

Joc Pederson, designated hitter for the Texas Rangers, is dealing with a small fracture in his left hand and is attempting to play through the injury as the team seeks a playoff berth.

The injury occurred when Pederson was hit by a fastball from former teammate Brandon Pfaadt during a game at Chase Field. Although he continued to run the bases, he was replaced by a pinch-hitter shortly after. He missed the following game and is out for the series opener against the Boston Red Sox.

Pederson has been a key player for the Rangers, leading the team with 26 home runs, primarily against right-handed pitchers. The Rangers are currently in a tight race for the playoffs, sitting just behind the Houston Astros in the American League West and competing for a Wild Card spot. The team hopes Pederson can return to the lineup by Thursday when they face a right-handed pitcher.
