Jody Cundy Aims for 20 Years Unbeaten at Para-cycling World Championships

Jody Cundy, at the age of 48, is set to compete in the Para-cycling Track World Championships in Apeldoorn, Netherlands, where he aims to secure his 20th consecutive victory in the kilo event. Cundy has remained unbeaten in this one-kilometre time trial since 2006.

As he prepares for the competition, Cundy acknowledges the challenges posed by younger competitors, including 22-year-old Archie Atkinson, who has previously defeated him at the National Track Championships. Despite the increasing competition, Cundy remains focused on his goal of maintaining his winning streak.

Cundy, a six-time Paralympic champion, has expressed his desire to contribute to the sport after retirement, potentially in coaching or governance roles. He has criticized the UCI for the limited opportunities for Para-cycling track events, emphasizing the need for more competitions to enhance the sport's visibility and competitiveness.
