Jody Cundy's 20-Year World Championship Streak Ends with Silver
Jody Cundy of Great Britain concluded his 20-year dominance in para cycling's C4 kilo time trial when he won silver at the world championships held in the Netherlands, where Australian Korey Boddington claimed victory.
Cundy, aged 48, first won the world title in 2006 and had successfully defended it at 15 consecutive championships. In this latest event, he completed the kilometre in 1 minute and 4.93 seconds, falling short by 2.25 seconds to Boddington.
Prior to the race, Cundy acknowledged the challenges posed by aging competitors, expressing that it would be difficult to add to his impressive tally of 23 track cycling world titles. On the same day, Rebecca Newark from Great Britain won gold in the women's C5 kilo time trial, while Sophie Unwin and Jenny Holl secured silver in the women's B kilo time trial.
