Joe Burrow Responds to Jayden Daniels Number Controversy

The recent dispute between Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels and LSU over the re-issuance of his jersey number (5) has drawn in Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, who previously received assurances that his number (9) would not be used again by the school.

After a preseason game against the Lions, Burrow mentioned that he had only recently learned about the situation and did not have many thoughts on it, as he felt he lacked sufficient information. He recalled that LSU had promised him they would not use his number again, although he acknowledged that circumstances could change.

The controversy arose partly due to a coaching change at LSU, which led to confusion over jersey number assignments. The situation escalated when Daniels's camp reacted strongly, which did not benefit either Daniels or the university.
