Joe Gibbs Racing Seeks Court Order for Spire Motorsports Data
Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) is pursuing legal action against Chris Gabehart and Spire Motorsports, asking the court to mandate the production of specific technical documents related to race setups for 2025 and 2026. This request is part of a lawsuit and countersuit currently underway.
Depositions for Spire's technical director Dax Gerringer and crew chief Travis Peterson took place in August, with JGR claiming that these depositions provide evidence of Gabehart's use of proprietary information from JGR. The defendants have contested this claim, arguing that JGR has not presented sufficient evidence to support their allegations.
In the ongoing legal proceedings, Gabehart is also seeking documents from Toyota regarding communications related to the termination of a key competition employee at JGR. Toyota has expressed reluctance to comply, citing the burden of producing documents that they believe are not relevant to the case. The court may need to intervene to resolve these disputes over document production.
