Joe Root Surpasses Sachin Tendulkar's Record for Most Test Fifties

England's captain Joe Root has set a new record in Test cricket by surpassing Sachin Tendulkar's mark for the most fifties. This achievement occurred during England's eight-wicket victory against Pakistan in the third Test at Edgbaston.

Root scored an unbeaten 62 runs off 69 balls, contributing to England's successful chase of 130 runs, which secured a 3-0 series win over Pakistan. His latest half-century brings his total to 69 fifties, edging past Tendulkar's previous record of 68.

In addition to this milestone, Root also became the first player to accumulate over 1,000 Test runs at Edgbaston, joining the ranks of only two other players who have achieved this feat at four different venues. England's victory at Edgbaston capped off a dominant series performance, having won the first two Tests at Headingley and Lord's.
