Joe Ryan of the Minnesota Twins Placed on Injured List

The Minnesota Twins have announced that pitcher Joe Ryan has been placed on the 15-day injured list due to a left glute strain, a setback for the team as they aim for the post-season.

Ryan's performance had declined after the all-star break, with a 9.39 ERA and seven home runs allowed in 15.1 innings across three starts. Prior to this, he had an impressive 2.85 ERA with 128 strikeouts over 110.1 innings in the first half of the season.

In response to Ryan's injury, the Twins recalled right-hander Zebby Matthews from triple-A St. Paul, who will take the mound for Friday's game against the Milwaukee Brewers. Ryan was previously viewed as a valuable asset leading up to the MLB trade deadline, but the team's management decided to retain him.
