Joey Porter Jr. Joins Dallas Cowboys After Trade from Steelers
Joey Porter Jr., a former cornerback for Penn State, has been traded to the Dallas Cowboys from the Pittsburgh Steelers, marking his first experience playing outside Pennsylvania.
The trade occurred ahead of Week 4 and involved Porter moving to the Cowboys in exchange for a 2028 second-round pick and a 2027 sixth-round pick. This decision followed contract disputes between Porter and the Steelers, as well as a back injury that sidelined him for the first three games of the season.
In his debut with the Cowboys, Porter participated in 45% of the defensive snaps without being targeted. He previously played four seasons with the Nittany Lions, where he recorded 114 total tackles and one interception. Other notable trades involving former Penn State players include Micah Parsons and Jahan Dotson, who have also made significant moves in the NFL.
