Jofra Archer Extends Contract with Sussex for One Year
Jofra Archer, the England paceman, has signed a one-year contract extension with Sussex, which will keep him at the club for a total of 12 seasons.
Archer, who debuted for Sussex in 2016, has taken 223 first-class wickets at an average of 25.17. After a lengthy absence from red-ball cricket due to injuries, he returned to play for Sussex in June 2025 and participated in his first Test since 2021 against India in July 2025.
During the 2025-2026 Ashes tour, Archer took nine wickets before suffering a side strain in the third Test. He later achieved 23 wickets in five Tests against New Zealand and Pakistan this summer. Archer expressed his comfort at Sussex, stating that it was an easy decision to extend his stay. Sussex's incoming head coach, Matt Walker, emphasized the importance of retaining a player of Archer's caliber for the team's success.
