John Cena Comments on Gunther's WWE Journey Post-Retirement
John Cena has expressed that there should not be excessive frustration regarding Gunther's performance in WWE since he retired Cena in December 2025 at Saturday Night’s Main Event.
Following that match, Gunther adopted the title of 'Career Killer' after also retiring AJ Styles. Despite some fan dissatisfaction with Gunther's subsequent booking, he has remained in contention for the Undisputed WWE Championship but has not secured a title since the previous year.
Cena reflected on the nature of opportunities in wrestling, noting that not every match will lead to a legendary retirement. He emphasized that Gunther's journey is ongoing and that sometimes wrestlers must support younger talent. Cena also mentioned that while frustration is common, it is essential for wrestlers to focus on their performances and potential. He is also working on the John Cena Classic, slated for late 2026, as part of his role as a WWE ambassador.
