John Harbaugh Attempts Unconventional Trade for Jeffery Simmons
Jeffery Simmons was traded to the Chicago Bears on Thursday, with the Titans receiving two first-round picks in the deal. Prior to this, Giants coach John Harbaugh attempted an unconventional approach to secure Simmons for New York.
Harbaugh reportedly contacted Titans owner Amy Adams Strunk directly, which some viewed as a breach of protocol among NFL decision-makers. Giants GM Joe Schoen had already reached out to Titans GM Mike Borgonzi, who indicated that Simmons was not available for trade. Despite Harbaugh's efforts, the Bears' offer of future draft picks proved too attractive for the Titans.
Harbaugh's direct communication with ownership is notable, as he reports to Giants ownership rather than GM Schoen. The Giants, currently leading the NFC East with a record of 4-2-1, are actively seeking to enhance their roster ahead of the upcoming trade deadline, focusing on positions such as defensive lineman and running back.
