John Klingberg Retires from NHL After 12 Seasons

Defenceman John Klingberg has officially retired from professional hockey as of Friday. Over his 12-season career, he played in 700 NHL games with six different teams.

Klingberg spent the majority of his career with the Dallas Stars, later playing for the Anaheim Ducks, Minnesota Wild, Toronto Maple Leafs, Edmonton Oilers, and San Jose Sharks. He recorded a total of 92 goals and 351 assists, accumulating 443 points.

Injuries affected Klingberg's performance in later years, but he was recognized early in his career by making the all-rookie team and finishing sixth in Norris Trophy voting during the 2015-16 season. He also participated in 82 playoff games, scoring 43 points with nine goals and 34 assists.
