Johnstone Burgh Faces Scheduling Challenge with Two Cup Ties on Same Day
Scottish fifth-tier club Johnstone Burgh is set to play two cup matches on the same day, with the kick-offs scheduled only half an hour apart. On Saturday, 21 November, they will face Tayport in the Scottish Communities Cup third round at 14:30 GMT and Dunipace in the Lowland League Cup first round at 15:00, with the latter match taking place 65 miles away.
The club has attempted to rearrange fixtures and explore various options to avoid this scheduling conflict, including midweek travel and alternative kick-off times. Despite their efforts, including offers to forfeit gate money to accommodate changes, they were unable to find a solution acceptable to all parties involved.
Currently sitting eighth in the Lowland League West after promotion from the West of Scotland League Premier Division, Johnstone Burgh had hoped to field their strongest team for both matches. Their opponents, Dunipace and Tayport, are positioned lower in their respective leagues, with Dunipace struggling at the bottom of the Lowland League East.
