Jon Rahm Agrees to Forfeit LIV Golf Payments in Settlement
Jon Rahm has opted to forfeit millions of dollars to terminate his commitment with LIV Golf, as reported by Front Office Sports. This decision comes after the league filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in New Jersey last month.
According to court documents, Rahm has entered into a separation agreement that relinquishes his claims to $7.47 million from past events and future earnings under his LIV contract. He joined LIV Golf in 2024, reportedly signing a contract worth around $300 million, with over $100 million still owed to him in future guarantees.
Rahm has also accumulated more than $106 million in prize and bonus money during his time with LIV, winning the individual season championship in each of his three seasons. The league's financial stability has been uncertain since spring, when its Saudi Arabian backers announced they would cease funding. A potential $300 million investment from BC Partners Credit could support a restructured version of LIV Golf if it emerges from bankruptcy. Rahm, who is a member of the DP World Tour, has expressed no intention of participating in LIV's future. A court hearing for the final approval of his separation agreement is set for November 5.
