Jon Rahm to Depart LIV Golf Over Unacceptable Terms
Jon Rahm has decided to leave LIV Golf after his lawyer stated that the terms for LIV 2.0 were deemed unacceptable. This announcement was made during a bankruptcy court hearing.
The league, which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in September following the withdrawal of Saudi funding, is seeking to secure $300 million in financing to continue operations. Rahm's lawyer indicated that the golfer independently reviewed the new terms and found them unsatisfactory.
Negotiations for a separation agreement between Rahm and LIV are reportedly in advanced stages, with a court hearing scheduled for November 5. LIV Golf players are owed at least $45 million and have the option to exit, while discussions regarding player contracts are ongoing until October 25.
