Jon Rahm's PGA Tour Prospects Diminished by Brooks Koepka's Performance
Jon Rahm has departed from LIV Golf but is not expected to compete on the PGA Tour in the near future. PGA Tour CEO Brian Rolapp indicated that the terms of Brooks Koepka's exit from LIV, which included a $5 million charitable contribution and no sponsor exemptions for Signature Events, will not be extended to Rahm.
Rahm is likely to face a one-year suspension from the PGA Tour while participating in the DP World Tour in 2027, before potentially returning the following season. This suspension will apply to any LIV golfer leaving the tour this year. Rolapp had previously offered similar terms to Rahm, Bryson DeChambeau, and Cameron Smith when Koepka first left LIV, but all declined the offer.
Koepka's performance this season has negatively impacted Rahm's chances of securing a deal with the PGA Tour. Koepka struggled significantly, failing to achieve a top-five finish and not qualifying for the FedEx Cup playoffs, which raises questions about the value of LIV players returning to the PGA Tour. With LIV Golf's current financial struggles and the PGA Tour's strengthened position, the likelihood of Rahm returning soon appears slim.
