Kuminga recently signed a two-year contract with the Minnesota Timberwolves, prompting some fans to question his agent, Aaron Turner, over past decisions. Turner described the negotiations with the Warriors as highly unusual, noting conflicting opinions from the team's leadership about Kuminga's fit within the roster.

Despite Warriors coach Steve Kerr's reservations about Kuminga, team owner Joe Lacob was willing to offer a substantial contract. Kuminga declined a three-year, $75 million deal from the Warriors, opting instead for a shorter contract to retain more control over his future. This decision led him to Minnesota, where he is expected to secure a starting position alongside All-Star players.
