Jonathon Cooper of the Broncos Placed on Commissioner's Exempt List

The NFL has placed Denver Broncos edge rusher Jonathon Cooper on the commissioner’s exempt list, preventing him from practicing or playing in games. This decision follows similar action taken against Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs.

Cooper's placement is a result of two summer arrests related to domestic violence incidents involving his girlfriend. He faces five charges, including second-degree felony assault and violation of a protection order, with a court appearance scheduled for Monday.

Cooper will remain sidelined until NFL commissioner Roger Goodell reinstates him, and he may face further suspension as the league investigates the matter. With the Broncos' season opener approaching, Jonah Elliss and Dondrea Tillman are expected to step in on defense. Cooper, a seventh-round pick from Ohio State in 2021, has recorded 180 tackles, 27 sacks, and two forced fumbles in his career.
