Jonathon Cooper of the Broncos Pleads Not Guilty to Assault Charges

Jonathon Cooper, a linebacker for the Denver Broncos, appeared in a Colorado courtroom on Monday to address charges stemming from a domestic violence incident. He has been placed on paid leave following his arrest this offseason.

During the hearing, Cooper entered a not guilty plea to several charges, including a felony count of second-degree assault. His arrest occurred after an altercation with his former girlfriend in June, and he was subsequently arrested again for violating a protective order a week later.

While on paid leave, Cooper is permitted to be at the team's facility but is not allowed to participate in practices or games. Broncos general manager George Paton emphasized the team's commitment to monitoring the legal situation and supporting Cooper, who has been working on personal improvement. A trial date has been scheduled for November 10.
