Joonas Korpisalo Returns to Rangers Practice After Foot Infection
Joonas Korpisalo, the goalie for the Rangers, returned to practice on Friday after dealing with a foot infection that sidelined him at the start of the season.
During the practice, Korpisalo participated for approximately 30 minutes, facing numerous shots before leaving the ice earlier than his teammates. He had only resumed skating the previous weekend, highlighting the significance of this return.
Head coach Mike Sullivan noted that Korpisalo's participation is a significant step forward, although he is still managing his workload with the medical team. After being placed on injured reserve, Korpisalo was given a four-week timeline for recovery, and if he remains on track, he could make his season debut during the Rangers' upcoming road trip to several cities. Additionally, Eeli Tolvanan missed practice for personal reasons, while defenseman Sean Durzi returned after maintenance, and goalie James Reimer was back on the ice following an upper-body injury.
