Jorge Martin Faces Surgery Consideration After Arm Pump Affects San Marino GP Performance

Jorge Martin experienced a significant drop in performance during the San Marino Grand Prix, finishing fifth after starting in the lead. The factory Aprilia rider attributed his decline to arm pump, a condition that restricts blood flow and muscle function in the forearms.

Initially, Martin was a strong contender for victory, overtaking Marc Marquez on lap 8 and building an eight-tenths lead. However, his pace deteriorated before the race's halfway point, leading to a loss of nearly a second per lap to the leader. He ultimately finished 14 seconds behind Marquez.

Martin noted that he had encountered arm pump issues during practice but did not expect them to escalate during the race. He is now contemplating surgery after the upcoming Austrian Grand Prix, although he is uncertain about the timing due to the tight race schedule. Following the San Marino GP, he is tied with Marquez at the top of the standings.
