Jose Aldo to Compete in Grappling Match Against Marlon Vera
Jose Aldo, the former UFC featherweight champion, is set to return to competition on October 4, participating in a grappling match against Marlon Vera. This event will take place at Coliseo General Rumiñahui in Quito, Ecuador, and marks Aldo's first combat sports appearance since his retirement from mixed martial arts.
Aldo concluded his MMA career with a unanimous decision loss to Aiemann Zahabi at UFC 315 on May 10, 2025, after a career that included 42 professional fights and two reigns as the UFC featherweight champion. He is known for his striking ability, with 17 of his 32 career victories coming by knockout, but he also holds a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu.
This upcoming match will not be their first encounter, as Aldo and Vera previously faced each other in an MMA bout on December 19, 2020, where Aldo won by unanimous decision.
