Jose Ramirez Reflects on Mistakes in Game 2 ALCS Loss to Rays
In Game 2 of the American League Championship Series, the Cleveland Guardians faced a setback against the Tampa Bay Rays, losing 3-1. Jose Ramirez, the Guardians' third baseman, made critical mistakes in the fourth inning that allowed the Rays to score three runs, tying the series at 1-1.
The inning began with Chandler Simpson reaching first base on an infield single. Ramirez failed to cover third base, enabling Victor Mesa Jr. to advance. Subsequently, a ground ball hit by Ben Williamson went through Ramirez's legs, allowing Mesa to score. This was followed by a two-run single from catcher Liam Hicks.
Ramirez expressed his frustration over the errors, noting the difficulty of the playing surface at Tropicana Field. Despite the loss, the Guardians managed to score a run in the seventh inning but could not capitalize further. Guardians manager Stephen Vogt emphasized the need for improved fielding as the team prepares for the next game in Cleveland.
