José Soriano Shines in Blue Jays Debut Against Phillies

José Soriano made his debut for the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday night, facing the Philadelphia Phillies.

In his first outing, Soriano pitched 4.2 innings, recording three strikeouts while allowing two runs, one of which was earned, on four hits and three walks. He threw a total of 94 pitches, with 62 strikes, and achieved 18 whiffs during the game.

Soriano began impressively by striking out Kyle Schwarber, followed by retiring Trea Turner and Bryce Harper in order. Although he allowed a run in the second inning due to a fielding error, his only earned run came in the third when Harper's single brought Schwarber home. Soriano concluded his performance by striking out the last two batters he faced before exiting in the fourth inning.
