Josh Downs Requests Trade from Indianapolis Colts Amid Rebuilding Phase
Wide receiver Josh Downs has requested a trade from the Indianapolis Colts as the team continues to make significant roster changes ahead of the NFL trade deadline. This comes after the Colts have already traded notable players like offensive guard Quenton Nelson and defensive tackle DeForest Buckner following the firing of general manager Chris Ballard.
Downs, who is in the final year of his rookie contract, has drawn interest from multiple teams. In the current season, he has recorded 26 receptions for a team-leading 307 yards without any touchdowns over seven games. He has been a key contributor alongside Keenan Allen and tight end Tyler Warren, especially with Alec Pierce out due to an ankle injury.
Selected in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft, Downs has established himself as a reliable receiver, ranking second in the NFL for receiving yards from the slot since his draft, with 1,964 yards. His best performance came in 2024, where he achieved 72 receptions for 803 yards and five touchdowns. Over his career, he has accumulated 224 catches for 2,447 yards and 11 touchdowns in 54 games.
