Josh Jacobs Charged with Misdemeanor Battery and Criminal Damage

Josh Jacobs, a running back for the Green Bay Packers, has been formally charged with misdemeanor battery and misdemeanor criminal damage to property related to his arrest in May in Wisconsin.

The Brown County District Attorney's Office filed these charges on Thursday, which could result in a maximum penalty of nine months in prison and/or a $10,000 fine. Jacobs was initially arrested on May 26 by the Hobart-Lawrence Police Department on various charges, including domestic abuse and disorderly conduct, but the felony charge of strangulation was not pursued by prosecutors.

Jacobs has denied the allegations through his legal representatives. The Packers' general manager indicated that the team is preparing for the possibility of Jacobs facing a suspension this season. If that occurs, MarShawn Lloyd, a third-round pick in 2024, is expected to take on a larger role, especially after dealing with injuries in previous seasons.
