Josh Jacobs Seeks Court Injunction Against Police Record Release
Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs has initiated legal proceedings to obtain a permanent injunction against the Hobart-Lawrence Police Department, aiming to stop the release of certain records from a May incident at his residence.
The court filing, dated October 14, requests protective orders under Wisconsin Statute 19.356, targeting materials obtained through subpoenas and search warrants. This action follows a recent decision by the police department to release some records with redactions after a review by a Brown County judge.
Jacobs, who pleaded no contest to two misdemeanor charges in September stemming from an altercation with his then-girlfriend, argues that public disclosure of the garage footage and sensitive details would violate privacy protections under Wisconsin’s Marsy’s Law. He claims that releasing such information could lead to risks for both him and the victim, as well as expose his home’s security layout. The police department has not commented on the ongoing litigation, and Jacobs remains on the NFL's commissioner’s exempt list, missing the current season.
