Josh Simmons Gains Weight for Improved Performance, Says Andy Reid
Chiefs head coach Andy Reid announced in June that left tackle Josh Simmons' weight gain during the offseason would be beneficial, provided it was not excessive. Reid confirmed at training camp that Simmons has successfully added weight in a healthy manner.
Reid noted that Simmons has maintained his weight gain over the past couple of months, which he believes will positively impact Simmons' performance. The coach emphasized that this added weight gives Simmons an advantage on the field.
Simmons, who is 6-foot-5, weighed 317 pounds at last year's Scouting Combine but dropped to around 285 pounds during his rookie season. He has not disclosed his current weight but indicated that it aligns with team expectations. After a challenging first season, the Chiefs are counting on Simmons to be fully prepared to protect quarterback Patrick Mahomes this year, and training camp observations suggest he is in good physical condition.
