Joshua Báez Makes Historic MLB Debut with Three Home Runs
Joshua Báez made a stunning entrance into Major League Baseball during his debut with the St. Louis Cardinals, hitting three home runs in a game against the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field, resulting in an 8-4 victory.
The 23-year-old outfielder hit a home run on the very first pitch he faced, followed by two more homers in his subsequent at-bats, making him the first player in MLB history to achieve this feat in his debut. His impressive performance included homers to right, center, and left field, contributing five RBIs to the team's win.
Báez's promotion followed a successful stint in Triple-A Memphis, where he recorded 34 home runs and 90 RBIs in 103 games. The Cardinals selected him in the second round of the 2021 MLB Draft, banking on his significant power potential. His recent improvement in contact hitting, evidenced by a drop in his strikeout rate, has raised expectations for his future in the majors.
