Judge Denies Motion to Dismiss 'Ring Boy' Lawsuit Against WWE and McMahons
A federal judge has ruled that the lawsuit against WWE and the McMahon family, which alleges negligence in preventing sexual abuse of ring boys during the 1980s, will continue. Judge James K. Bredar rejected the defendants' motion to dismiss the case, asserting that the Maryland Child Victims Act is constitutional as it applies to this situation.
The McMahons had contended that the law was unconstitutional, but Bredar's ruling allows the lawsuit to advance into the discovery phase. A teleconference is scheduled for November 17 to discuss evidence availability and deposition timelines. While a trial date is not yet set, it could be delayed or canceled if a settlement is reached or if the defendants choose to appeal the ruling.
