Judson Clarke Makes Emotional AFL Return After 867 Days

Judson Clarke is preparing for an emotional return to the AFL as he takes the field for Richmond against the Crows at Adelaide Oval on Saturday.

This marks Clarke's first appearance in the league in 867 days, following two anterior cruciate ligament injuries since the 2024 season. He initially ruptured his ACL during a VFL game on April 13, 2024, and suffered a second rupture on June 7, 2025, making it the third such injury in his career.

After spending a month in the VFL to regain his form, Clarke impressed with 16 disposals and six marks against the Footscray Bulldogs, prompting Tigers coach Adem Yze to select him for the upcoming match. Clarke reflected on his rehabilitation journey, expressing excitement about returning to the game and acknowledging the strength he has gained through his challenges. He was drafted by Richmond with Pick 30 in the 2021 National Draft and has played 17 senior games, with 13 occurring in 2023.
