Julien Andlauer Takes Lead for Porsche at Road America
Julien Andlauer secured the lead for Porsche during the Motul SportsCar Endurance Grand Prix at Road America, utilizing a short-fill during a caution period. This strategic move placed him ahead of teammate Kévin Estre, who was driving the #6 Porsche 963, as Porsche Penske Motorsport achieved a 1-2 position.
The race saw the #24 BMW M Hybrid from BMW M Team WRT dominate the early stages, leading for most of the first half on the 4.048-mile road course. The event experienced its first caution just 12 minutes in when a Ford Mustang GT3 crashed into the wall, prompting a brief halt.
As the race progressed, several incidents occurred, including a spin by LMP2 leader Daniel Goldburg and a collision involving multiple LMP2 cars. After a series of pit stops and penalties, Andlauer emerged at the front, leading Estre and Laurens Vanthoor as the race approached its halfway mark.
