Justin Langer Criticizes Two-Day Test Matches After Australia's Victory Over Bangladesh
Justin Langer, a former Australian cricketer, has criticized the growing trend of Test matches finishing in two days, labeling it unacceptable after Australia defeated Bangladesh by an innings and 51 runs in Mackay. This match concluded quickly, with Australia needing only 750 balls to level the two-match series 1-1.
In the match, Bangladesh struggled significantly, being bowled out for 64 in their first innings and 95 in their second. Langer pointed out that this marks the third Test involving Australia in the last seven to end within two days, raising concerns about the format's viability. He attributed the issue to poor batting techniques rather than just pitch conditions.
Bangladesh's captain, Najmul Hossain Shanto, acknowledged that his team did not perform at their best but emphasized the learning experience from the series. He noted the challenging conditions in Mackay and expressed a desire for more overseas Test opportunities to help improve their game.
