Kagiso Rabada Set to Miss Australia Test Series Due to Injury

Kagiso Rabada, a key fast bowler for South Africa, is likely to miss the upcoming three-match Test series against Australia due to a significant Grade 3 hamstring tear. The injury occurred during his winter conditioning program and is anticipated to keep him out for approximately 10 weeks, ruling him out of the series that starts on October 9 in Durban.

Allan Donald, a former South African fast bowler and current Lions bowling coach, confirmed Rabada's absence, indicating that he will not participate in any of the Tests against Australia. The series includes matches in Gqeberha on October 18 and in Cape Town on October 27, preceded by a three-match ODI series beginning September 24.

Rabada's injury poses a challenge for South Africa's bowling lineup, as he has taken 340 wickets in 73 Tests and was instrumental in their victory over Australia in the 2025 World Test Championship final. In his career against Australia, he has claimed 58 wickets in 11 Tests at an average of 21.39.
