Kalle Rovanpera in Talks with Toyota for WRC Return

Kalle Rovanpera is exploring the possibility of returning to the World Rally Championship (WRC) with Toyota following a slowdown in his single-seater racing ambitions.

Discussions have commenced, as confirmed by Toyota team principal Jari-Matti Latvala, after Rovanpera tested the manufacturer's upcoming 2027 rally car in Spain. However, no agreement has been finalized, particularly regarding whether Rovanpera intends to participate in a full season or a limited schedule.

Rovanpera transitioned away from full-time rallying in 2025 to pursue circuit racing, with aspirations for Formula 1. His Super Formula commitments were interrupted, leading him to reassess his options. By August, he indicated a willingness to consider various paths for his future. Latvala noted that Toyota is keen to clarify Rovanpera's readiness for a complete championship, especially as the team navigates a competitive roster.
