Kamario Taylor Out for 2026 Season Due to Toe Injury
Mississippi State quarterback Kamario Taylor will not return for the remainder of the 2026 season due to a toe injury that necessitates surgery, as announced by the school on Wednesday.
Taylor had emerged as a standout player early in the season, contributing significantly to victories against Minnesota, South Carolina, and Missouri. However, he sustained a turf toe injury during the game against Missouri and attempted to play through it in a subsequent match against Alabama, before ultimately sitting out against LSU. After a brief return against Oklahoma, he exited the game in the first half.
With Taylor sidelined, Mississippi State's offense has struggled, currently holding a 4-3 record with four games remaining against SEC opponents. Parker Puckett will take over as the starting quarterback. The team hopes to improve its chances of bowl eligibility with star running back Fluff Bothwell returning from injury. Looking ahead, Taylor is expected to focus on recovery and preparation for the 2027 season, where he could be a top prospect for the NFL Draft.
