Karl-Anthony Towns Open to Salary Reduction for Knicks
Karl-Anthony Towns has indicated a readiness to take a pay cut to continue playing for the New York Knicks. The team, which secured the championship last season against the San Antonio Spurs, has proposed a four-year contract worth $200 million to Towns, who is eligible for a $277 million extension.
Despite his willingness to adjust his salary, Towns expressed disappointment over the Knicks' decision to halt contract extension discussions until later in the season. He noted that this news was unexpected and emphasized the importance of focusing on basketball.
Towns, who joined the Knicks from the Minnesota Timberwolves prior to the 2024-25 season, has been a significant contributor, averaging 22.2 points and 12.3 rebounds per game during the regular season. He is also a six-time All-Star and played a key role in the Knicks' successful playoff run, culminating in their championship victory.
