Karnataka Faces Saurashtra in Ranji Trophy Showdown

Karnataka is set to compete against Saurashtra in a Ranji Trophy Elite Group-B match at the Alur Grounds, starting Sunday. This match marks a significant challenge for Karnataka, which has not secured a victory against Saurashtra since 2009.

Shreyas Gopal, who has taken over as captain following R. Smaran's departure for the India-A tour, will play a pivotal role as both an all-rounder and leader. In the previous season, he excelled with 48 wickets and 469 runs. Karnataka will also benefit from the return of pacers Vidwath Kaverappa and V. Vyshak, although they will miss the experience of K.L. Rahul and Smaran's contributions.

Saurashtra, which has a strong recent history in the tournament, is also coming off a draw and currently holds three points, compared to Karnataka's one. Notably, India spinner Ravindra Jadeja, who performed well in the opener, will not participate in this match.
