Kasey Kahne to Compete Full-Time in 2027 NASCAR Truck Series
Kasey Kahne is set to return to competitive racing in 2027, as Spire Motorsports has signed him to drive the No. 77 truck full-time in the NASCAR Truck Series. This announcement marks a significant moment for Kahne, who last raced in the Cup Series in 2018.
After stepping away from the Cup Series due to health concerns, Kahne has found success in shorter races, including Sprint Car events. Spire co-owner Jeff Dickerson approached Kahne with the idea after attending the Knoxville Nationals, leading to this new opportunity. Kahne expressed enthusiasm about the shorter races and night events, which he believes suit him better.
The Truck Series schedule consists of 25 races, significantly fewer than the 38 in the Cup Series, and most races occur at night, providing a more manageable format for Kahne. He will also continue to race Sprint Cars with his own team, Kasey Kahne Racing, while adapting to the new Truck Series dynamics, which feature different engine packages and handling characteristics compared to his previous experiences.
