Kasey Redfern, Former Atlanta Falcons Punter, Passes Away at 35
Kasey Redfern, who played as a punter for the Atlanta Falcons, passed away on October 13 at the age of 35 following a prolonged struggle with central nervous system lymphoma, as confirmed by the Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office in South Carolina.
Redfern, originally from Jamestown, North Carolina, had been undergoing treatment for approximately 3.5 years after being diagnosed with a brain tumor and CNS lymphoma in 2023. His wife, Lauryl, indicated on social media that the family had transitioned to hospice care due to his deteriorating condition.
During his brief NFL career, Redfern played in four regular season games, including three with the Falcons in 2019, where he averaged 41.2 yards per punt. He is survived by his wife and two sons, and a GoFundMe campaign launched in 2023 raised over $53,000 to support the family.
