Katarzyna Niewiadoma-Phinney Takes Lead in Tour de France Femmes

Katarzyna Niewiadoma-Phinney from Poland has taken the lead in the Tour de France Femmes following a remarkable performance in the seventh stage, which concluded at Mont Ventoux.

This victory marks Niewiadoma-Phinney's first stage win in the Tour, despite having previously won the overall race in 2024. She now leads 2023 champion Demi Vollering by 15 seconds and Marlen Reusser by 39 seconds, with only two stages remaining.

During the climb, Niewiadoma-Phinney launched a decisive attack about 9 kilometers from the summit, leaving her competitors unable to keep pace. The stage featured a challenging ascent categorized as Hors Catégorie, with a gradient nearing 9 percent. The next stage will be a flat route of 172 kilometers, concluding in Nice, followed by another mountain stage.
