Kaverappa Leads South Zone on Day One of Duleep Trophy Semifinal
On the first day of the Duleep Trophy semifinal at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, Vidwath Kaverappa's impressive bowling performance led South Zone to take the honors against North Zone. Kaverappa claimed four wickets for 66 runs, contributing significantly to North's total of 195 runs.
North Zone opted to bat first, with opener Qamran Iqbal scoring 76 runs. Despite his efforts, North lost momentum after reaching 71 for one, eventually collapsing to 95 for four. Kaverappa's second spell was particularly effective, as he dismissed key players including Qamran, Nishant Sindhu, Abid Mushtaq, and Anshul Kamboj.
At the end of the day, South Zone was at 40 for two, having lost two early wickets. The batting lineup will face a challenge in the next session against North's pace bowlers, while Central Zone, playing on a nearby ground, scored 266 runs against East Zone.
