Kavyashree Shines Amidst Upsets at UTT National Table Tennis Tournament
Kavyashree Baskar made a notable impact at the UTT National-ranking table tennis tournament held in Kanpur, where several upsets occurred on Saturday.
During a busy day of competition, both Sayali Wani and Taneesha Kotecha, seeded sixth and eighth, were eliminated in the women's round of 64. Kavyashree defeated Sayali in a closely contested match and later overcame Ahona Ray to secure her place in the last 16. In the men's draw, G. Sathiyan and H. Jeho, seeded eighth and 11th respectively, also exited early, with Sathiyan losing to Abhimanyu Mitra.
Top seed Yashaswini Ghorpade faced a challenge but managed to advance, setting up a pre-quarterfinal match against Sreeja Akula. Other significant results included victories for Manush Shah and Priyanuj Bhattacharyya in the men's round of 32.
