Kawhi Leonard's Undisclosed Deal Under Investigation
Kawhi Leonard is currently facing scrutiny due to an undisclosed multimillion-dollar agreement with Daktronics, the company responsible for the video board at the Los Angeles Clippers' arena. This revelation comes as the NBA investigates the Clippers for potential violations related to salary cap rules.
A source indicated that the sponsorship deal was allegedly a method to circumvent salary cap restrictions, suggesting that funds were funneled from the Clippers through Daktronics back to Leonard. As of Thursday night, neither the NBA nor the Clippers had commented on the situation.
While the start date of the sponsorship deal remains unclear, a Daktronics spokesperson stated that Leonard is not currently under contract with the company. The Clippers are also dealing with ongoing investigations related to a previous allegation involving a $28 million payment to Leonard through the banking firm Aspiration, which has since gone bankrupt. The Toronto Raptors, who are in talks to reacquire Leonard, have paused the trade until the investigation concludes.
