Keidean Coleman Seeks Trade to Essendon from Brisbane Lions
Keidean Coleman, a half-back for the Brisbane Lions, has formally requested a trade to Essendon. The 26-year-old made his intentions known on Monday, following discussions with Essendon's new coach Mark McVeigh.
Despite interest from Collingwood, Richmond, and the Western Bulldogs, Coleman chose Essendon. The Lions are seeking a high-quality draft pick in exchange for him, even though he has only played 15 games over the past three seasons due to injuries. Essendon holds picks 17, 21, and 27, with the Lions particularly interested in pick 17.
Coleman's trade request follows his absence from Brisbane's recent premiership successes. He suffered an ACL injury at the start of 2024, played just one game in 2025, and participated in 13 matches in 2026, missing the Grand Final victory against Fremantle. Essendon is actively pursuing trades this season, having lost key players and looking to strengthen their roster.
