Kelce Brothers Criticize NFL for Penalty on Cam Skattebo
During a recent episode of their podcast, Jason and Travis Kelce criticized the NFL for a penalty called against New York Giants running back Cam Skattebo. The penalty occurred in the first quarter of the Giants' 27-21 overtime victory over the Houston Texans, where Skattebo was penalized for lowering his helmet while running into safety M.J. Stewart after gaining seven yards.
The 15-yard penalty not only negated the gain but also highlighted a rare enforcement of the rule against an offensive player this season. Jason Kelce expressed strong disapproval of the call, arguing that the defensive player should be responsible for the contact. He emphasized that a running back should be allowed to lower their shoulder without being penalized if their head goes down in the process.
Travis Kelce supported his brother's view, labeling the play as part of football and questioning how a runner can effectively lower their pads while keeping their head up. Skattebo, who achieved a career-high 124 rushing yards in the game, also voiced his frustration, stating he would continue to play his style regardless of potential penalties.
